Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War

  • Formed in 1881 by the Grand Army of the Republic
  • Fraternal organization for direct descendents of Union veterans
  • Runs education programs and seminars
  • Helps keep the memory of Union veterans alive through restoring monuments, erecting new ones and educational outreach
  • Local chapters participate in national events, such as the commemoration of the Gettysburg Address in November each year in Gettysburg
  • Auxiliary organizations exist for daughters of Union veterans and youth
